Faces of Habitat: Meet Christiaan

2/9/2026

Faces of Habitat is our ongoing blog series where we shine a light on the amazing people who make Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity what it is.

This month, we're featuring Christiaan, our ReStore Associate!

Christiaan started working for Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity's ReStore at the end of June 2024, shortly after he graduated and moved from La Crosse. He has been such an asset to the ReStore, processing donations, driving the donation truck, helping customers, and working with volunteers to run daily operations.

Let's get to know a little bit more about Christiaan:

What is your favorite part about working with Habitat? In other words, what is your why?

My favorite part about working for Habitat for Humanity is the ability to get involved in the community I live in. I spent four years in La Crosse for college and after I left, I realized I completely neglected the city. But working with all the volunteers, hearing their stories, and meeting the customers and donors, I feel like I'm part of the community rather than just living in the city.
What is one moment that stands out from your time at Habitat?

There are two standout moments that I can think of. The first was the NFL Draft and the stuff we got to do on the build sites leading up to it, like the NFL and Lowe’s Community Project with Clay Matthews. The second was the Habitat Homestead Block Party that we held in the summer of 2025 to commemorate the completion of the Habitat Homestead neighborhood.

What is something you love to do when you're not at work?

I'm a graduate student at UW-Green Bay getting my master's degree in nutrition and integrated health. Once I receive my degree, I would like to pursue a career as a registered dietitian with the goal of working as a sports performance dietitian.  So, fitness and health are my main priorities outside of work. I love lifting weights, going for walks, and experimenting with new foods. I powerlifted for two years and now compete in bodybuilding.

Just for fun: if you could instantly become an expert at anything, what would it be?

Scuba diving!
