Faces of Habitat: Meet Kari

Faces of Habitat is our ongoing blog series where we shine a light on the amazing people who make Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity what it is. 

This month, we're featuring our Marketing and Grants Manager, Kari. 

Kari has been with Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity since June of 2025. "I spent about 10 years working for myself as a freelance copywriter but I was desperate for the opportunity to do something a little more impactful with my talents. Plus, it’s nice to be in the office and working alongside other people again!”

What is your favorite part about working with Habitat? In other words, what is your why?

I believe so strongly in the vision of Habitat for Humanity; that everyone deserves a decent place to live. I love that I can help spread awareness of our work and mission in the community. Social media posts, email newsletters, blog posts, and flyers help people understand why we do what we do and how they can help. On the grants side, it is so rewarding whenever I get a chance to use my writing skills to secure funding so we can build more houses and impact more people!

What is one moment that stands out from your time at Habitat?​

I started working at Habitat right as Habitat Homestead was wrapping up. I was able to participate in the planning of the Habitat Homestead Block Party, which was so much fun! I got to help book the food trucks, hire a local artist to commission a permanent installation for the development, and work alongside Andrea (Marketing & Communications Director) to create marketing materials for the event. It was such a big celebration and it was great to be able to dive in headfirst and help! 

What is something you love to do when you're not at work?

I am alllll about puzzles. I love putting together jigsaw puzzles. I have a big, tilting puzzle table on wheels and I just completed my first 2,000 piece puzzle. I also love crossword puzzles. I have been doing the New York Times puzzle pretty regularly for a few years and I am working on improving my solve times. My brain is always busy! 

Just for fun: if you could instantly become an expert at anything, what would it be?

Art history. I love visiting art museums, but I have so many blind spots when it comes to understanding the art and truly appreciating it. It’s something I regret not learning more about when I was in college! ​
