Green Bay Habitat Blog

Faces of Habitat: Meet Matt

3/19/2026

Faces of Habitat is our ongoing blog series where we shine a light on the amazing people who make Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity what it is.

This month, we're featuring Matt, our Construction & Facility Director.

Matt has been with Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity since January 2014 and in that time, he has held several different roles. He has been involved in so many grassroots efforts over the years, and has made a significant impact in the ReStore, the Habitat office, and of course, on MANY of our build sites.

Fun fact: he has been personally involved in 66 out of the 153 total builds since our founding in 1987... and counting! Needless to say, we have benefitted from his immense skills and knowledge for many years! Keep reading to learn more about Matt:

What is your favorite part about working with Habitat? In other words, what is your why?

The thing that keeps me feeling energized in my work is knowing that I am making a difference in the lives of the families that we build the homes for.

What is one moment that stands out from your time at Habitat?

One of the first homes that I built was with a single mother with high school and younger children. Through the process of the home being built, it was amazing to watch how the attitudes of the children changed, knowing that they were working on something that could change their lives.

What is something you love to do when you're not at work?

Spending time with family and friends. We used to do a lot of camping, but having sold our camper last year, we are looking at different adventures to take and places to see.

Just for fun: if you could instantly become an expert at anything, what would it be?

Cooking. I like to cook, but I would like to be able to be creative and know what to do without a recipe. For example, taking a steak and knowing exactly how to season it, what to serve as a side, and what beverages would pair with it depending on someone's taste. I don't want to be a chef, I just want to be able to cook some incredible food for my friends and family.
