For another Brown County family, the dream of homeownership has become reality. Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity celebrates the completion of our 109th home built in partnership with the homeowners, the Barrette family. The home was also the 2018 Faith Build for the Green Bay affiliate.
A Faith Build is an annual opportunity for Habitat and faith-based communities to partner and build a home for a family through prayer, volunteerism, and financial support. A dedication ceremony for the 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom home located at 1264 Western Avenue in Green Bay is scheduled for Thursday, July 12 at 5:30 p.m. The event is open to the public. Immediately following the ceremony, the home will be open to tour and light refreshments will be available. "We are so excited to accept the challenges that come along with homeownership," said the Barrette family. "I have hope for the future because of Habitat for Humanity; this program makes a mortgage affordable for a single mother like me." Through generous donations of money, materials, and volunteer labor, Habitat for Humanity is able to build and sell homes to deserving families at a price they can afford with a no-interest loan. Mortgage payments fund and support additional Habitat homes. Habitat’s 2018 Lead Faith Partner was Thrivent Financial, who generously matched $65,000 donated to Habitat by local faith organizations: Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Green Bay, Celebration Church, Central Church, First United Presbyterian Church, Knights of Columbus No. 7498, Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, Resurrection Catholic Parish, Ss. Edward & Isidore Church, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, and Union Congregational Church. Join us and witness the positive impact of Habitat for Humanity homeownership in our community.
