Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity to Host First-Ever Virtual Home Dedication

GREEN BAY, WI – Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity has built its 119th home that will be dedicated to the Mose family on Thursday, May 21, 2020. The dedication event is a moment to honor the Habitat homebuyer family, and their dedicated sweat equity hours to complete the home. The dedication will begin at 12:00 p.m. and will be hosted virtually for the first time on Facebook Live.

With a family of two adults and five children, the Mose family is very excited to celebrate the virtual dedication, ribbon cutting and turning over of the keys during their event. The dedication will also include remarks from executives of Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity, appreciation for the volunteers, a ribbon cutting to the home, key ceremony, and a virtual home tour. The dedication is anticipated to be 20 minutes. At the conclusion, there will be a parade of cars to drive by the family and congratulate them on their new home purchase.
“Owning a home means I am able to say yes. Yes, I’m a positive role model for my children and yes, I’ll take responsibility for my children and my life,” said Sharif Mose. “Yes, I’m worthy, dependable, and self-motivated, but most importantly, owning a home means, I can.”

The Mose family journey began with Habitat for Humanity in 2019, they completed the extensive application process, demonstrated willingness to partner with Habitat and ability to pay their homeowner mortgage. After being referred to the homeowner program by another Habitat homeowner, the Mose family wanted a Habitat home to stabilize costs and provide consistent and secure housing for their family.

The 119th home build has been special to Habitat for Humanity as it was selected to be sponsored by Larson Storm Doors after a sweepstakes in September 2019. The build site also hosted International Women Build Day, a day to celebrate the strength of women learning to build and community involvement. The home was also constructed in partnership with the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Green Bay. The Mose’s home is a two-story home that is designed to accommodate the necessary space of the homebuyers.

A Facebook event has been created with the details of the dedication, how to watch, as well as how to participate in the drive by parade of cars. To watch the Facebook Live dedication, viewers can like and follow Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity on Facebook.
