With nearly 900 stores in 49 states, chances are you’ve come across a Habitat ReStore, most likely the one right here in Green Bay on Allouez Avenue. But did you know that Habitat for Humanity ReStores are more than just resale stores? They actually support Habitat for Humanity’s mission in several very important ways. How ReStores support Habitat The proceeds from purchases made at Habitat ReStores go to the Habitat for Humanity programs supported by the local office. Then, the funds are put to work in the local community. In Green Bay, the revenue generated from sales funds not only the office operations, but all any remaining dollars support the Homeownership Program. Being able to cover operating expenses means that all philanthropy and fundraising we do go directly towards home builds rather than salaries or administrative expenses. Put simply, when you support your local Habitat ReStore, you are helping individuals and families in your community secure safe, affordable housing. Why Habitat ReStores are unique If you’ve stopped into the ReStore, you’ve probably noticed that it looks and operates differently from many other home improvement stores. All ReStores have different layouts and stock different items. In fact, you might have noticed that the items for sale inside any one ReStore change from day to day – or even hour to hour. This individuality is what makes Habitat ReStore unique. Since stores are run by local Habitat affiliates, each one is specifically catered to support its local area. There’s no one-size-fits-all mentality here; every Habitat ReStore knows how to best serve its specific community. How you can help Habitat ReStores Because inventory at the ReStore changes frequently (what is for sale depends on what is donated), we are always looking for donations. If you have been cleaning out your garage or are looking to replace your gently used furniture, we would love it if you would consider donating any unwanted items to us! We are also happy to receive items from businesses that are moving, upgrading, or remodeling! You can learn more about what we accept at Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity ReStore here. After donating to Habitat ReStore, we encourage you to come in and do a little shopping! Just as your donations provide items that stores sell, your purchases provide the proceeds that fund decent places to live in Brown County. We are also always looking for great volunteers to help in this process. You can learn more about volunteering here! Does Habitat ReStore pick up furniture donations?
Yes, we do offer furniture pickup as well as pickup for other large donation items, including appliances, building materials, and more. We also partner with ReSupply, a veteran-owned company, to provide quick pickups for a small fee. Unlike our standard free pick-up service, ReSupply can accept items in any condition. All eligible donations go directly to the Greater Green Bay Habitat ReStore, while remaining items are donated to other charities or responsibly disposed of. You can schedule a pickup on this page.
