COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update – CLOSED
Updated 3/26/2020 8:00 a.m.
Beyond all else, our priority is always to support the health and safety of our entire Greater Green Bay Habitat community— staff, clients, volunteers, supporters, and all of our neighbors across Wisconsin, nation and internationally.
With this in mind, beginning Wednesday, March 18, we will close our office and ReStore located at 1967 Allouez Avenue. Essential tasks will continue to be performed remotely. We are constantly evaluating the situation, in the hopes that we will reopen in the very near future. Please continue to check our website for the most up to date information. We are taking this unprecedented step in order to protect our staff, volunteers, donors and customers, the families we seek to serve and the community that we love.
Greater Green Bay Habitat is currently working on many critical projects and initiatives – building homes for families who rely on safe and affordable housing. This disruption to our workflow will most certainly affect our fundraising. The families we seek to serve are already vulnerable; many of them in positions at the forefront of the crisis, health care workers, civil servants, service sector employees; those to whom a missed paycheck can mean catastrophe.
During this time, we ask that if you had intended to give to Greater Green Bay Habitat – if you intended to volunteer, to visit the ReStore, or to donate – that you show your support with a donation now, to keep us building a better community as we face uncertainty with this pandemic.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and we will re-open our office, our sites and our ReStores as soon as it is safe to do so.
Please remember to follow recommended health and hygiene protocols and seek up-to-date information on the status of the outbreak, and health resources available to you and your family.
The following operations will be suspended from March 18 until further notice:
The Habitat ReStore is unable to accept donations at the designated drop-off area or conduct pick-ups as of Tuesday, March 24th in response to Wisconsin's Safer At Home order. We have posted an on-site notice that donations are not permitted to be left on the Greater Green Bay Habitat property. Doing so could result in fines for Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity, and it is likely that the donation will be ruined by exposure to the elements and our organization would be responsible for the financial burden of disposing it, or it could get stolen. Questions about rescheduling should be directed to (920) 338-1650 or info@restoregb.org.
If it’s within your capacity and you’d like to financially support Habitat through this difficult time, you can make a donation here.
We also ask that we all take this time to pray. Pray for those who are ill or may become ill, for medical staff and personnel, for military and first responders, and government officials as they too navigate these uncharted and uncertain times of difficulty.
As part of the Habitat family, you understand the power of community action. Thank you for your continued support during this time and for playing your part in slowing the spread of the virus and promoting the well-being of our entire community.
In partnership,
Cora Haltaufderheid, Executive Director
