Metal Recycling Program

Turn Your Scrap Metal into Affordable Homes

Donate your metal items to support Habitat for Humanity

Do you have old metal items lying around your home, garage or yard? Don’t let them go to waste! By donating your scrap metal to Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity's ReStore, you’re not only helping the environment but also contributing to our mission of building decent and affordable homes for individuals and families who will be purchasing a house through our Homeownership Program.

What Can Be Donated?

We accept a wide variety of metal items, including:
  • Aluminum: Beverage cans, pie pans, foil, gutters (clean and rinsed).
  • Brass: Keys, doorknobs, plumbing fixtures, instruments.
  • Copper Lights & Wires: Electrical wires, phone chargers, extension cords, holiday lights.
  • Garage & Yard Scrap: Outdoor furniture, fencing, tools, nails/screws, automotive parts, grills, bicycles.
  • Household Items: Wire hangers, vent covers, fans, metal chairs, pipes, faucets, scissors.
  • Kitchen & Cast Iron Items: Old silverware, baking sheets, cooking utensils, cast iron pots/pans.

We are unable to accept:
  • Refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers and dehumidifiers
  • Items containing flammable liquids or gasses
  • Medical waste, e.g. syringes or needles
  • Items containing mercury, e.g. thermostats, switches, bulbs
  • Insulated building materials, e.g. pipes, ducts, furnaces
  • Batteries (except non-leaking auto batteries and portable batteries)
  • Chargers, propane tanks, or other compressed gas cylinders
  • Radioactive materials, e.g. smoke detectors
  • Electronics, e.g. televisions, monitors, phones, computers, printers, copiers, gaming devices, etc.

Environmental Impact

Recycling reduces waste and conserves natural resources. Don't worry about stripping it, we can handle that part.
Ready to make a difference? Visit the Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity ReStore to drop off your scrap metal today! Together we can build homes and create a more sustainable future.

Powered by Passion: Meet the "Metalheads"

100% Volunteer-Driven for Maximum Impact

At the heart of our Metals Recycling Program is a dedicated crew of volunteers who call themselves the "Metalheads." This passionate team sorts, strips and prepares donated metal items to optimize the recycling process, ensuring that every donation we receive makes the largest possible impact.

Their efforts not only maximize financial contributions to Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity but also add a layer of sustainability. Items donated to the ReStore that may not qualify for resale — like broken tools or outdated household items — are stripped for metal components, keeping them out of landfills and giving them a second life.

Thanks to the Metalheads' hard work, proceeds from recycled metals directly support our mission to build safe and affordable homes for future Habitat homebuyers in Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity's Homeownership Program!
