Volunteer Program Manager

Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity is seeking a dynamic and organized Volunteer Program Manager to lead and grow our volunteer program. This role is essential to advancing our mission by recruiting, engaging, and supporting the volunteers who power our work across construction sites, the ReStore, and our administrative office.

Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity has been building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter since 1987. We have partnered with 154 local families to achieve safe, affordable homeownership. Our work is rooted in partnership, accountability, and the belief that we provide a hand up, not a handout.

Position Summary
The Volunteer Program Manager leads the planning, coordination, and execution of all volunteer activities across the organization. This includes recruitment, training, scheduling, engagement, and retention of approximately 1,000 volunteers annually. This role works closely with staff, community partners, and volunteers to ensure a meaningful, safe, and well-organized volunteer experience.

Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment and Outreach:
  • Lead volunteer recruitment efforts through community partnerships, presentations, and outreach
  • Represent Habitat at community events and speaking engagements
  • Collaborate with marketing efforts to promote volunteer opportunities
  • Build relationships with corporations, faith groups, and community organizations
  • Conduct regular volunteer orientations and onboarding

Volunteer Coordination and Management:
  • Coordinate volunteer scheduling across construction, ReStore, and office operations
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and database systems
  • Communicate schedules, expectations, and updates to volunteers and staff
  • Ensure volunteers have the tools, information, and support needed for success
  • Maintain waivers and ensure compliance with safety and organizational policies

Volunteer Engagement and Retention:
  • Plan and implement volunteer recognition events and appreciation initiatives
  • Develop strategies to retain and grow a strong, engaged volunteer base
  • Build relationships with key and returning volunteers
  • Gather feedback to improve the volunteer experience continuously

Program Administration and Reporting:
  • Maintain volunteer policies, procedures, and training materials
  • Track and report volunteer data for internal reporting, grants, and Habitat for Humanity International requirements
  • Provide data and insights for events, fundraising efforts, and organizational planning
  • Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies

Cross-Department Collaboration:
  • Partner with Construction, ReStore, and Affiliate teams to align volunteer needs
  • Support fundraising events such as Women Build and Faith Build
  • Coordinate volunteer training opportunities across departments
  • Assist with volunteer-related communications, including newsletters and updates

Qualifications
(Required):
  • Minimum of two years of experience in volunteer management or a related role
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
(Preferred):
  • Experience in a nonprofit environment
  • Familiarity with volunteer management systems such as GivEffect
  • Experience with community outreach, public speaking, or event coordination

Work Environment:
This is an in-person role based in Green Bay, WI, with regular interaction with volunteers, staff, and community members. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required to support events and volunteer activities.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Salary: $45,000–$55,000 annually
